Dear Parent or Family member,
As one of two third grade teachers at The Good Hope School for 2007-2008, I will have the opportunity to be your child’s teacher. Thank you for entrusting me with this most pleasant and important responsibility.
When, together, parents and teachers model shared challenge and support, we under gird our children’s educational experience with a firm, consistent foundation. That combination of stimulation and nurturing is a key to each child’s meeting high expectations and dreaming even more for her or himself. I promise to consistently hold high standards for your daughter or son, to stay in touch with you, and to value your communication with me. Please email me at pkimble.ghs@gmail.com, leave a message for me at school, or drop me a note. I try to read my email each morning before school starts and each afternoon soon after school is over. If you need to send a message to your child or change going home arrangements, for example, please do that through the office at (340) 772-0022 since I will be with the students not at the computer.
Mrs. Layton and I will be posting classroom newsletters and pictures on the Third Grade Webpage linked to
First, our class will get to know your child better through your “eyes.” Second, you will have an opportunity to share, in writing, some of the feelings, memories, expectations, and dreams you hold for your son or daughter. Third, by keeping this questionnaire confidential and a secret from your child until I read it in class, you will be giving her or him a gift of love. Fourth, by sharing these questionnaires in class, our third graders will not only come to know one another better but understand how valued each is in her or his family and in our classroom. Finally, by secretly completing and returning this questionnaire by
Fondly,
Dr. Pam Kimble
P.S. I’m looking forward to our being together at tonight’s All School Picnic.
P.P.S. When Mrs. Layton and I planned together, we discovered that the children will benefit from having some old sneakers to use for wandering in the water and an old towel for drying off from that wandering and for using as a mat when we read outside. Please send those items in with your child’s name on them so they can stay at school throughout the year.
P.P.P. S. I will be asking the children to call me Dr. Kimble. I think that is important to show them that doctorates can be earned in many fields, not just medicine, and that women can be doctors. Just wanted you to know it is not an ego issue, but a quiet modeling for their education. Please know you are invited to call me Pam J.
