Healthy Snack Choices for School-Aged Children

¨      nuts

¨      popcorn

¨      sliced fruit

¨      celery with peanut butter

¨      celery with cream cheese

¨      hummus with pita bread slices or vegetables

¨      baby carrots

¨      sliced cucumbers

¨      yogurt

¨      peanut butter and crackers

¨      low-sugar cereal

¨      sliced cheese and meats with crackers (homemade “Lunchables”)

¨      leftovers from dinner

¨      seeds (pumpkin or sunflower)

¨      hard boiled eggs

¨      chunks of cheese

¨      peanut butter sandwich

¨      Chopped raw vegetables and dip

¨      Pretzels

¨      Cheerios, granola, or other cereal in a bag

¨      Toasted whole grain breads or crackers with fruit spread or nut butters

¨      Graham crackers or gingersnaps dipped in applesauce

¨      Mini rice cakes with peanut butter

¨      Dried fruits, especially raisins

¨      Applesauce or other fruit cups

¨      Individual boxes of soymilk, rice milk, or fruit juices
